Pikes Peak Rangerettes

In 1957, Mark Reyner came up with a plan to develop an all-girls equestrian drill team to encourage the western values of horsemanship, sportsmanship, and citizenship. Sixty years later, the Pikes Peak Rangerettes carry on this tradition with a pride that comes from having a deep-rooted history in the Colorado Springs area and their continued support of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo and for what it stands. The stories that linger tell of an era spanning more than a half a century where young girls became young women leaving the club with skills that go far beyond horses and rodeos. They gained confidence in themselves, communications skills, teamwork abilities, and an understanding of loyalty. They have learned what it means to work hard, how it feels to be completely exhausted and push on, how to give more than you receive, the importance of charity, how to smile when you want to cry, and most importantly, that they are special and have the ability to make a difference in the world.

We will be celebrating the 60th anniversary with a reunion and hope to contact as many of the hundreds of ladies that have been a part of this organization over the years as possible; hoping to hear the stories they can tell of the way Rangerettes has shaped their lives. Please, if you are a Rangerette alumni, or know of someone who is, have them sign the registry on Latigo’s web page so we can contact them with the details when they are available.
